River Update 1-23-15
Well as you can see and feel, if you live in Michigan, is is offically Winter!! Sub Zero temps and 20 below wind chills are telling you it's not time for Fly Fishing, it's time for Fly Tying! A nice warm fire and a cup of coffee and sitting down at your tying bench will help the time go by until we can all get back on the saddle again, that is the saddle of our Driftboats and back on the water this Spring doing what we love so well, which is chasing and catching Trout & Steelhead. Last year during March & April we had a hard time just getting to the River. It was late April by the time we could fish. We will just have to see what kind of Winter that Mother Nature has in store for us. So sit down tie some fly's, and I'll be watching my favorite video "The River". Until Spring when we meet around the bend stay warm and think Trout, and let them swim in your head until we can see them swimming in the River once more! Just a bit of info for you also, I am eating Tag Sandwiches this year, no venison for me. Saw some small Deer, but decided not to shoot. Slow Season for Deer in Southern MI for the 2014 hunts. Call early to set up Prime Times in Mid May thru June as I book really fast for the Prime Times. You can check the Weather link above and click on webcam and that will give you updated pics of the condition of the river. God Bless and see you soon. You can check my above USGS River Flow page for water temps on the Au Sable on a daily basis.
God Bless Dennis Davis/RiverGuide
